What is Regret?
Often times as people age, they come to feel regretful about not taking more action in their lives or the actions they did pursue in their lives. Regret is ‘feeling sad, repentant, or disappointed over (something that has happened or been done, especially a loss or missed opportunity)’. It is a set of unique emotions that leave a lasting mark on us humans.
Each and every person feels regret, in my case mine comes from the lack of.
My regret…
I have always been very passionate about art and got into YouTube when I was only 13. All I wanted for Christmas was a laptop and camcorder so that I could create anything and everything I wanted to. It wasn’t until the early years of High School that I was often teased and taunted by my videos. Kids would pull up my channel in the middle of computer classes and play them in front of everyone.
My regret has always been my lack of confidence. I used to let other people’s opinions affect the things I loved. I stopped making videos because of the teasing. I gave up on something that made me happy and that I enjoyed more than anything just because someone laughed at me for it.
Regret is an odd feeling, it’s a desire to go back and make a different decision. If I had the opportunity I would go back and tell myself not to give up, that these people are temporary and their opinions don’t matter. But, that is not possible and I have to live with my choices. All I can do is make up for it by being the person who doesn’t listen to other people’s opinions and continuing on doing something I love.

In saying that, you can find my Youtube channel linked here. Keep in mind I haven’t been active or updated much of anything in quite some time. Although I do hope to change that.
All I can do is be forgiving to the younger version of myself and continue on with her passions with joy and happiness. Regret can linger but it’s best to let it go and make up for the missed opportunities while you still can.
