The End of an Era

Strategic Presentation

A Course Reflection

By: Kassandra Lippincott

The era of This or That has come to an end.

After a semester-long journey, it’s now time to reflect on the various posts and conversations had in the past few months. I indeed was challenged when it came to coming up with creative angles to the assigned topics. This class has taught me an array of new skills that I can take with me in future endeavors.

Blogs

One of my favorite graded assignments was the blog posts. It gave me the opportunity of creative freedom and to talk about things that are meaningful to everyday life. Being able to create a story and add interactive aspects to it was something I have never done before with any other class.

The newly developed skills to not only create a blog post but slowly tweak and build a website is a valuable skill that can be used for various different career pathways. It gave me the opportunity to start to develop my own brand and create a place to contain all of my projects and work in one space.

The blog and website are two aspects of the class that I truly value and have learned a lot from.

Podcast

Another aspect of the class that taught me a lot was the development of the PSA and Podcast that was assigned for our final project. I do not have the most experience when it comes to audio development so it was interesting to be exposed to various applications and techniques.

Creating a podcast is more difficult than it may seem and it provided a different perspective for those that take the time to create one especially weekly. I was surprised to find out how long it takes to not only record one but go through every second and edit it.

It took a lot of effort but it helped me develop new skills I didn’t previously have. Overall, the class taught me a lot and my favorite aspect was the creativity involved and how it incorporated critical thinking skills.

You can find all of the assignments under the Blogs toggle on my website or under Portfolio.
