Never Ending ‘Current’ Events
There is so much going on in the world right now, especially in America. So called ‘natural’ disasters have been consuming media outlets for weeks with the Ohio train derailment and ‘balloons’ being shot down from the sky and yet we are expected to just go about on our day like everything is normal.
I am 23, born in the year 2000 and it seems I was born at a time where disaster and crisis occurred left and right. Time and time again there is some new issue consuming every social media platform followed by endless conspiracies. When will it all end? Frankly, I have been feeling very overwhelmed by it all, are you?
It’s hard to fight off the feelings about running away, finding an uninhabited island, and building my own bungalow away from everyone and everything. But that’s not possible, some way, some how, the disasters would follow wether it be the increase in ocean levels, flooding, forest fires, the list goes on.
“I am expected to get a corporate job, work a 9 – 5, buy a home, have a family, and die.”
What is so difficult is the fact that older generations don’t seem to feel the same way. I am expected to get a corporate job, work a 9 – 5, buy a home, have a family, and die. It sounds harsh but that’s because it is, I want so much more for my life than to be confined to a box and forced to do something that makes me unhappy just because someone else tells me to do so. The system has restricted everyone for years and there is a small percentage of people that can wake up excited to start their day because they absolutely love what they do.
My generation along with the younger ones, were born into a dying world. We have witnessed endless arguments and feuds all because someone isn’t getting their way. The people in power took the beauty out of living (if there ever was one), most people can’t even afford groceries. The world is changing rapidly and we are more informed than ever and yet we stay repeating the same mistakes over and over again.
I’m no activist but I wonder if anyone else feels the same way. I’m simply exhausted, no amount of rest or sleep cures it.
This wasn’t a very uplifting post, but sometimes we need a slap in the face with the reality of our country and the state of the world. It’s better to let those thoughts out than let them eat you alive.
Here are two sites you can donate to assist Ohio in helping their wildlife and natural resources, as well as individuals who may be physically affected by the chemical exposure.
If there are any other or more beneficial ways I can help, please let me know!
